1. 辨析：hope, wish
hope | 指对实现某一愿望有信心、有把握，后不能跟复合宾语，只能跟动词不定式或从句。 |
wish | 常指难以实现或不能实现的愿望，后可以跟复合宾语，即wish sb. to do sth.，也可接双宾语或宾语从句。 |
例：I hope to visit Beijing. 我希望去北京游览。
I wish that I could fly like a bird. 我希望自己能像小鸟一样飞翔。
2. 辨析：may be, maybe
may be | “情态动词+be动词”结构，在句子中作谓语，意为“也许是”。 |
maybe | 副词，常用于句首，作状语，意为“也许”，同义词是perhaps。 |
如：He may be a teacher.他也许是个教师。
Maybe he is a teacher.也许他是个教师。
3. 辨析：look, see, watch, read
look | 是主动地、有意识地去“看”，强调看的动作过程，是不及物动词，接宾语时要加介词at。 |
see | 指“看见；看到”，强调看的结果，但不一定有意识地看，是及物动词，如：看电影，看望某人，看病都用see。 |
watch | 指“看；观看；注视”，一般是聚精会神地看，如：看戏，看电视，看比赛，看表演等。 |
read | 多用于指“看报纸；看书”等，这里的“看”，可以理解为“读”，可作及物动词，也可作不及物动动词。 |
如：Please look at the blackboard.请看黑板。
You should see a doctor when you are ill.当你生病时应该去看医生。
Do you watch TV every day? 你每天都看电视吗？
Mr. Li likes reading newspapers.李先生喜欢看报纸。
4. 辨析： happen, take place
happen | happen发生，是一般用语，词义较广，一般指事情、事故的发生，强调事情发生的偶然性。 |
take place | take place一般指有计划，事先安排的事件、事情的“发生”，没有偶然性。此外还有“举行”的意思。 |
例：A funny thing happened in the subway yesterday.
昨天地铁里发生了一件有趣的事。
Great changes took place in my hometown last year.
去年我的家乡发生了巨大的变化。
5. 辨析：let’s, let us
let’s | 强调包括说话者和对方在内，用来提出建议。 |
let us | 不包括对方，用来请求允许。 |
如：Let’s go to school, Darning.大明，我们去上学吧。(提出建议，双方参与）
Let us go home, Mr Wang.王老师，让我们回家吧。(请求允许，不包括王老师在内）
6. 辨析：one day, some day, the other day
one day | 意为“某一天”，指将来或过去的某一天。 |
some day | 意为“某一天”，只用于将来时。 |
the other day | 意为“不久前，几天前”，只用于过去时。 |
如：One day, the monkey saw a villager.一天，那只猴子看见了一个村民。
China dream will come true one some day.总有一天中国梦会实现。
I asked the car the other day.几天前我叫过车。
7. 辨析：be famous for, be famous as
be famous for | be famous for“以……而闻名”。for后面的东西通常是主语本身所固有的东西。 |
be famous as | be famous as“作为……而闻名”。 |
例：Beijing is famous for its many places of interest in the world.
北京以其众多的名胜古迹而闻名于世。
Yao Ming is famous as a basketball player.
姚明作为篮球运动员很出名。
8. 辨析：get, become, grow, go, turn
get | 多用于口语中，其后常接形容词，表示“变化”的过程，特别常接形容 词的比较级。 |
become | 多用于书面语，意为“变得，成为”，表示由一种状态向另一种状态的转变，强调状态的变化，其后可接名词或形容词，不可接动词不定式作表语。 |
grow | 原意为“生长，发育”，表示渐渐成为新的状态，即“渐渐地变为”， 时相当于get，后接形容词或动词不定式。 |
go | 表示因某种原因而进人某种状态，说明“变”的结果。 |
turn | 含有“变得和以前完全不同”之意，说明变的结果。 |
